BEGIN 2-WEEK SPRINT!

• Start sketching visual impressions of a user story "ticket" based on sprint-planning meeting.

• Prioritize "must have" features from "nice to have" features.

• Sketch user flows and brainstorm solutions.

• Identify opportunties to follow and disrupt design patterns.

Wireframes.

• Fire up an Adobe product (AI, PS, etc) and start wireframing based on sketches.

(Note: Occasionally, wireframes will be prototyped if interactivity/behavior is the focus.)

• Continue research and sketching as needed.

• Plan out entire "user flow" as they navigate through the solution from start to finish.

• Organize content (copy, button placement, etc) and other UI concerns on more grainular scale.

Comp Creation and User Testing

• Make high res comps of crucial wireframed screens.

• Conduct any necessary A/B testing.
(Note: Issues identified in daily standups would be flagged for testing.)

Check-In and Prototype

• Backed by test results and based on user stories, present comps to manager.

• Iterate on disapproved comps (usually add to next Sprint)

• Upon approval, build prototype using Axure or Sketch.

User Testing and Present

• Conduct interactive user tests (conducted online and in-house).

• Note spoken and observed problems.

• Prioritize and present discovered problems to steakholders.

• Add problems to next Sprint

END SPRINT:

The design department typically had 1 week between sprints in order to:

- conduct sprint introspective and sprint planning meetings,

- update the online style guide based on approved designs (with CSS),

- publish user tests and archive documents from previous sprint,

- get rid of any technical debt, collaborate with programmers to resolve any UI/UX questions,

- squash basic design tasks like website maintenance and marketing needs.

RESULT (PATIENT MODULE SHOWN)

Edits are much easier now, ... the software itself is just so much easier to navigate and has great features.
